Our Personality

The Payne Ave. Church is a unique church:

We're not a mega-church, so don't expect to be anonymous. We try to be a place that will notice when you're here and even when you're not!

We're not formal, so don't expect suits and ties and formality. We try to be real. You'll find that we're not perfect, but we try to be a place where we can honestly struggle through life together & seek God's power to see things change!

We're not focused on money, so don't expect an offering plate to be passed. Many people without a lot of money feel awkward & on the spot when the offering plate is passed around. We allow giving to be private.

We're an Urban Church, so don't expect a gorgeous building and a huge parking lot. (God has provided a great building for us after many years of renting & we have seen Him provide for some nice improvements recently.  We have on-street parking on Payne, Magnolia, & Jessamine, plus a few spots in the lot in the alley to our south {thanks to Mariano's For Hair}).

It's about hope in God & Jesus, so don't expect a watered down message that says we're all okay & going to heaven. We're messed up (with sin) & there's only one way to God, and that's through Jesus Christ.

We want to be a place where real people find the real Gospel of Jesus Christ and experience real change.
