We hold the Bible as Truth. We don't water it down. We don't make the Bible fit our beliefs; we make our beliefs fit the Bible.

Our Worship

We feel that worship is very important. It is way more than singing a song; it is a way of living life. Our Sunday morning worship is not always flashy; it's not always perfect, but it is our desire for worship to be authentic and bring God glory and honor rather than someone on a stage.

We would love to be able to tell you that we don't mess up and that we don't have problems, but that simply is not true. We are made up of people who come from all different walks of life. Payne is a church with "real" people.

Payne Free Church has 4 unique worship teams. Each team has a unique style; from hymns to Contemporary. The one thing that stays constant in every style is that we try to play songs that don't contradict what the bible says and songs that are worshipful towards God.

Our Church started in 1986.

Pastor Larry Willman along with

a handful of others felt God calling

them to start a Church in the

East Side. The name Payne

Avenue was chosen to ensure

that the our Chruch stayed in the

area. We met in coffee shops,

Salvation Army and other locations

until 1999 when we moved into

the current building. The building

and programs have changed;

new people have come, and some of our members have been lead by God to other places. One thing that doesn't change is our mission and our message. We seek to follow Jesus Christ and bring his message and love to the East Side.

We believe that God loves and cares for people regardless of age or status and so we do our best to reflect that in our ministries. Whether you are 20 or 90, have kids or even grand kids, there is a place for you at Payne.

Our specific ministries at Payne are designed to allow you to connect with others in the Church body. We feel that comunity is very important, and our different ministries are a huge part of forming and maintaining this encouraging and supportive community.

Sunday School

The backbone of our children's ministry is our Sunday School program. We have classes for pre-school through high school. Its a great place for the kids to learn what the Bible teaches and meet other kids from the Church. Sunday school takes place every Sunday following the morning service.

ROC Mentoring

Mentoring is designed for children who

attend Sunday School regularly. It is

another place for them to grow among

other kids and mentors that are seeking to be more like Jesus. We try to form quality and consistent relationships between kids and mentors. It is very important to have good role models in the lives of young people. So many kids need someone who really cares about their lives.

Youth Ministry (7th-12th grade)

Sunday School

We offer a separate guys and girls Sunday School class each week. They focus on the basics of what the Bible teaches and how it relates to important issues of life.

Girls Group

Girls mentoring is a group that meets on a week-night for those who regularly attend Sunday School classes. It's a place for girls to grow closer to God and form deep meaningful friendships.

Adult Ministry

Adult Ministry

Sunday School

Adult Sunday school is a opportunity to look deeper into the Bible and what it teaches. It's a place where tough questions can be asked. It takes place every Sunday after the morning service.

College Group

Since there has been a growing

number of college students attending

Payne Free, they have started

getting together after the Sunday morning service. It is very informal. They go to a coffee shop or Pastor Larry's home and hang out together. They talk about life and God, pray and worship, and just offer encoragment to each other.

Sermon Based Small Group

This is a group where we meet together in order to go deeper into God's word and each other's lives. It's not intense or intimidating so even if you missed the sermon or didn't take time to go into deeper study of the passage you are more than welcome to come and join.

Our small groups are a place where you can meet people from Payne Free and connect with us as we grow closer to God. In our small groups we know more than just your name and face. We come along side each other and offer friendship and encoragment as we grow closer to God.

We are located directly on Payne Ave on the East side of St. Paul. The Church is between Jassamine Ave and Magnolia Ave. We don't have a large parking lot. There is a small lot just up the ally and street parking is available on Jassamine, Magnolia, and Payne.
